Wirtschaftsjunioren of the IHK Lahn-Dill visit the Thermokon Bischoffen plant
A delegation of the Wirtschaftsjunioren of the IHK Lahn-Dill visited the Thermokon production site in Bischoffen. Accompanied by Melanie Ledford from the IHK office in Wetzlar and Alexander Cunz, Deputy Managing Director of IHK Lahn-Dill, the group met with Harald Zygan, Jörg Teichmann and Cornelius Berns. The visit centred on informative insights into production and corporate development, supported by open discussion and many practical questions.
Welcome and company introduction
The visit began with a concise introduction to Thermokon: development, production and quality assurance at the site, key milestones since the company’s foundation, and today’s product portfolio of innovative sensors and sensor systems for energy-efficient buildings. Personal perspectives were added by Harald Zygan and Jörg Teichmann, who shared their career paths and the Thermokon success story – from its foundation in 1987 and the early days of building up the company from the founder’s family home to today’s growth as a global player with more than 300 employees and numerous subsidiaries across Europe.
Tour of production
The programme continued with a tour of the plant. The group gained insights into essential process steps: from component manufacturing to assembly and quality testing, through to logistics. Key topics included efficiency, consistent quality and the role of modern testing technology. Discussions focused on workflows, interfaces between development and serial production, and the advantages of short distances within the plant. Participants gained an impression of how production depth, material flow and quality assurance interact to ensure reliability and delivery performance.
Exchange and networking
To round off the visit, everyone took the opportunity to discuss questions on technology, organisation and market requirements. In a relaxed atmosphere, conversations emerged on best practices, project workflows and cooperation with regional partners. The visit concluded with positive feedback from both sides.
